Trending topics

The Trending Topics widget lives in the right column of your dashboard. It surfaces the hottest threads in the forum right now, regardless of which workspace you're in.

What it shows

Each card in the widget lists the latest trending thread with:

  • Topic title: clickable, opens the thread.
  • Author name: clickable, opens the author's profile.
  • Category: e.g. News & Announcements, OpenPLC - General Discussion, Patreons Only.
  • Comment count and view count: small icons with numbers.

Examples you might see:

  • Runtime v4 for Windows · Thiago Alves · News & Announcements · 21 comments · 589 views.
  • pzem-004t in openplc · joeltackie · OpenPLC - General Discussion · 2 comments · 21 views.

The list is short (5–6 entries). A View Forum button at the bottom takes you to the forum home.

How "trending" is computed

The platform scores threads by recent comments, views, and likes over a sliding window. Pinned and locked admin threads can also bubble up if they're getting a lot of attention.

The trending list is global. There's no per-workspace trending. Whether you're on your personal dashboard or an org dashboard, you see the same trending topics.

Why this widget is here

The forum is where most of the community help, bug reports, and discoveries happen. Surfacing trending topics on the dashboard means new users find the conversation quickly without having to make the forum part of their daily check.

If you spend a lot of time in the forum, you probably want to bookmark the Forum home directly instead of relying on the widget.
